Restored façade balance contemporary interiors

This historical 1880’s “workers’ bungalow” was completely inhabitable. Registered as historical with the city, the front facade had to be restored and visually stay as a bungalow from the street. Before construction was able to begin, permits from the historical board, applications to Committee of Adjustment, permits from Urban Forestry and a building permit were needed. In the end, the house was gutted and a second storey added to the rear transforming this house into a modern three bedroom family home while keeping the integrity of the historical home on the street.
